marco rubio probably touched on it. i support and agree with the principles he laid out as far as earned legalization. making sure people don't cut in line but fixing the problem. we did reform in '86 and again in '96. it's a system that's broken that needs fixing. and many of us who have been involved in this issue over the years. immigration is a good thing. that's what america is. it's a melting pot. we think this is good. we need to make sure it works. i think there are republicans and democrats, many of us are talking to each other, that can come together with a good solution to make sure that this problem is fixed. once and for all. and i think those rubio principles do a really good job of adhering to the founding principles, respecting the rule of law, and respecting those who came here for a better life. >> and do you see that getting done this year? >> i do. that's one of the areas where i feel that i think the president has a big speech coming up. the question that many of us are asking, republicans and democrats, is he looking to play politics or does he want to solve the pro

marco rubio from florida come up with a pretty comprehensive immigration reform package or ideas. that could be a place where the president and certainly senator rubio but other members of the republican party could take an issue that's hard and it's historically been hard to reach compromise on and maybe find the common ground, find the soluti solution. so that might be something we might want to look out for over the next few weeksn addition to al the talk about the economy and that and deficits. >> brown: what's your answer to what others have commented on here as to the kind of signal the president was sending as to what kind of leader he wants to be? you know, with his vision now or reaching across the aisle? >> i thought it was more of an articulation of his vision not as much signaling reaching across the aisle. that was the message he ran on in this first race and aate lot of the message of his first inaugural. less so in this particular speech. but as ramesh pointed out, he won theelecion. it's his opportunity to set forth that. we're in a divided time right now. so mayb
